Twist ‘N’ Lock is a product from APATCO Fence Tensioning Systems Pty Ltd, a small family company established in January 2023.
Having worked on sheep and cattle stations all their lives, Mark and Trudie are motivated and inspired by a deep love and connection to living and working on the land. It was through years of working on the land and dealing with fencing that the Twist ‘N’ Lock Fence Tensioning System was conceived – with an aim to make fence tensioning easier for everyone!
‘Rural Contractor turned Inventor!’
Mark and Trudie have lived and worked on sheep and cattle stations all their lives so they know all too well that having good yards and fences is a must when you run stock, or even if you just want to keep the pests out.
After meeting, Mark and Trudie started their own Rural Contracting business in 2006 and have been working on Trudie’s family’s properties performing all aspects of station work (including a lot of fencing over the years).
In early 2022 Mark brought the idea of developing a new fence tensioning product to Trudie’s attention. His idea was a fence tensioning system designed for use with cyclone/manufactured wire (common on most farms and properties). The goal was to make putting up cyclone fences a lot easier and much more efficient – to not only save time, but saving money!
The Twist ‘N’ Lock Tensioner Kit was born! Perfect for yard building and short runs that are hard to tension the traditional way, but also can be used in long runs with the help of traditional fencing methods.

Mark and Trudie are excited to announce that the Twist ‘N’ Lock Tensioner Kit has won the 2024 Good Design Award for Excellence in Engineering Design and Innovation. Recognised for its innovative approach to simplifying rural mesh fence tensioning, the kit was praised for enhancing safety and efficiency in livestock yards and short fence runs. The judges commended its practical design and global market potential. This recognition highlights the hard work of the team and their commitment to creating a simple, effective solution for anyone installing cyclone fencing. As Mark always says, "If it makes my life easier, why not share it with others?"

We have worked very hard to create a fully engineered product that we are very proud of, and we couldn’t have done it without our engineering team.
Our aim for this product is to help anyone putting up cyclone fencing by offering a simple and effective tensioning solution to a tedious problem.
